“Preggers!” Oh, four episodes into this crazy show, and LOOK AT THAT I’ve fallen in love with Kurt Hummel. I love that he puts down the attitude and the bitch-face and lets us really see him this week. Not all of him, nowhere near the man we come to know later on. But we get a peek, right here, at the core of Kurt Hummel. Hooray!

Welcome to “Acafellas,” which is apparently an episode about finding your balls guts to be true to your dreams.

Back soon with “Preggers,” in which we get to meet my favorite TV dad of all time. Yay for Burt Hummel!
I always felt like “Showmance” was the episode that, after the novelty and excitement of the Pilot, kind of clapped its hands and got down to business. Like, “okay, here we go, this is what this show is going to do.” Not because it’s the greatest episode that Glee ever did, but maybe just as that recognition that the Pilot worked, so this takes it from a great idea to an actual series that is happening.

Obvious commentary is obvious, I guess.

Hiatus Re-Watch, Season 1 - 1x01 - Pilot

And so it begins… We are one week into the Epic Hiatus of our Discontent, and Day One of my re-watch of Seasons 1 and 2. Because I simply cannot handle not having a complete catalog of episode recaps.

I don’t have a set schedule, but I’m hoping to keep it at about two episodes per week, since there are 44 to get through. We’ll see how it goes.

So! Let’s start at the very beginning. (A very good place to start.) The last time I re-watched Season 1 was fully two and a half years ago, and I don't think I've seen more than a musical number or two since then. Off we go on the adventure.

Season 5 Wrap-Up

With Season 5 complete and canon officially on the books (and over for the next eight months OH THE HUMANITY), I wanted to step back and write up my thoughts on the season as a whole.
Thoughts on Season 5, no spoilers or speculation beyondCollapse )
And with that, I close the book (for now) on Season 5. I’m incredibly bummed about the length of hiatus that stretches out in front of us, and already a little melancholy about Season 6 being the end. But I will always be glad I watched this crazy show.

In the meantime, because I have a thing for completeness and plenty of time to kill, I plan to do a fully-recapped re-watch of Seasons 1 and 2. So I won’t be disappearing any time soon!
SEASON FINALE? God dammit, how could that be? I am seriously so sad that we didn’t get the full 22 this year.

So, going into this episode, I am more spoiled than I want to be. I watched the promo (I always do, but frequently wish I didn’t… my self-control is not without its limits), I saw a couple of BTS shots from filming, and I was spoiled for at least three song titles (though I don't actually know for sure who's singing them).

Fundamentally, I don’t know the answers to any of my big, important questions. But I feel like I have just enough information to start making connections and speculating, and that is NOT where I like to be.

The only good thing about the upcoming Epic Hiatus of Our Discontent (and we thought this winter’s was bad?!) is that I should at least be able to let my Tumblr dash load without averting my eyes for a couple of months.

At any rate, on with the show!

Look, I do my best to be spoiler-free, but I don't live under a rock. I know full well that Chris Colfer wrote tonight's episode. And you know what? I'm a big fan of the guy, and am feeling SUPER nervous on his behalf. I just want good things for him (and the show and the characters), okay?

Let's do this.

So, pretty much all I know about “The Back-Up Plan” going into it is the big guest star and maybe a song title or two. I love it when I have almost no idea what to expect! (No, seriously. That wasn’t sarcasm. The less I know, the happier I am.)

But thanks to flaming_muse for putting a finger on why the title of this episode has been bugging me: just typing it feels way too close to "The Break-Up." OW.

Anyways, let’s see what tonight has in store for us!

"Opening Night!" I was going to say "finally," but who even knows how time works in the Glee universe.

Liz's Instant Glee-Cap - 5x16 - Tested

It’s funny, attempting to live the spoiler-free life while participating in fandom at large. Because on the one hand, I don’t feel like I knew much of anything about this episode going into it, other than the tiny bits and pieces from the promo at the end of last week’s. I didn’t really know plot at all, I didn’t know songs other than the clip from the promo. And yet, it turns out I had seen quite a handful of behind-the-scenes photos, either because I simply can’t make myself unfollow some of the cast members on Instagram (why can’t I quit you??), or because things I didn’t recognize were floating by, untagged, on my Tumblr dash.

It’s a balancing act, really, and one I’m mostly okay with these days. Even if the tiny spoilers that do leak through make me really anxious for the big ones that I know are lurking behind my blacklist.

At any rate, let’s find out what’s going on with tonight’s episode!
